Every Page Will Make You Drool!

I picked up Marisol Murano's Deliciously Doable Small Plates from Around the World a while back and I have to say, I am impressed. Do note that this book is intended to be viewed on an iPad, a Kindle Fire, a smart phone or some other tablet device. If you have just a regular Kindle, then this is not the book for you. Otherwise, you are in for a treat!
With roots in her native Venezuela and a degree from Johnson & Wales, Marisol has traveled the world as a "destination chef." This is her collection of favorite places and recipes from her travels. All of the recipes are easy to do and most use either ingredients that you already have or ones that are readily obtainable.
This is a fully interactive book, full of gorgeous photos. (Yes, you can zoom but the book is locked into the landscape position.) After an introductory chapter entitled "The Skinny on Small Plates" You'll find a wealth of yummy things to try. Here's the Table of Contents. Each section contains a further interactive list of included recipes. Since this style of book does not allow for a Look Inside feature, I've listed them all below.

Incredible food, inspiring photos, and an engaging chef who brings it all to life

Destination chef Marisol Murano's cookbook is one part mouthwatering recipes and three parts inspiration. This is way beyond a collection of ingredient lists and how-to directions, it's like a walk through global cuisine and culture complete gorgeous photos. Each recipe is intended to be small. Think of the book as the written version of an international tapas bar, loaded with delicious goodies just big enough to make you roll your eyes in pleasure as you bite down, but not so big as to fill you up and prevent you from sampling something else new and wonderful.
As you make your way through the dishes, Murano entertains with both personal stories and interesting facts related to the region the dish hails from. Murano takes you around the world with her and shares personal stories to help spice up the recipes. Chicken a la Cubana evokes her memories of seventeen grandkids crowding down both sides of a long table with her abuelo at El Cubanito in Caracas. The Champinoes al Ajillo (Sizzling Crimini with Garlic Chips) offers an amusing explanation for why Marisol passes on her own tasty dish.
This is a cookbook for foodies, for people who adore real food and the culture it springs from. I may never step foot in Portugal or experience the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul but thanks to Marisol I'll still be able to have a little taste of their culture.

I absolutely love the wide variety of recipes in here

This cookbook is unique and delicious. Unlike many others I've read, with little to no pictures, simple instructions, and just ok results, this particular cookbook really stood out to me.
Why? Well, first of all, the cookbook itself looked gorgeous. It's colorful, and filled with pictures of food. Just a warning... flipping the pages will make you hungry! It's not just the food, either: there are pictures of sceneries from all around the world, from Madagascar to Greece, and from Portugal to Indonesia, giving you a glimpse at where the food originated and why the author chose to present that particular recipe. The author also added a personal touch to it, as well: before giving us the directions and ingredients, the author shares a story, some background, a personal anecdote... what I'm saying with all of this is that the author is not simply writing down recipes and telling us to follow it. She creates an experience for her readers; a three-dimensional one, starting from a story, to imagery, to physically making the food and tasting it.
I absolutely love the wide variety of recipes in here. There are no two dishes that taste the same, but out of the ones I've tried so far, they were all incredibly delicious. If you're looking to experiment with cooking, or want to expand your horizons with global cuisine, you cannot go wrong with this book. I highly recommend this--not only for the amazing recipes inside, but also for the visual appeal and the wealth of information in it.
