El principal problema de esta continuación de Psicosis es que, por una parte, abarca muchas tramas y personajes a fin de generar un misterio que acaba más bien en confusión, y por otra parte, que traiciona la esencia del genial personaje de Norman Bates, transformándolo casi en un asesino común. Hay momentos entretenidos y un giro final que intenta alcanzar el impacto de la historia original, pero allí donde el giro resultaba impactante y natural, aquí resulta impuesto y poco creíble.
