We need relationships that work!

Much of life is about how you interact with other people. One of my friends recently told me, "If I didn't have to be with other people I could be a really good person." Relationships are hard to maintain. Period. But when you throw in something like a baby it is difficult to know how to adjust your own life let alone life with friends, parents and hubby! Like the title, you can feel like you are in a different world. Life on Planet Mom is all the things you never knew about relationships after becoming a mom. It is an excellent read before diving into motherhood, and timely if you're a mom already to understand why things change with people and how to make the best of each relationship. I love how Lisa Bergren targets this book to those suffering from "momnesia" with questions in boxes throughout the chapters and a study guide at the end of each chapter to discuss with friends. The questions probe at your heart to see how you need to prioritize correctly, let the Lord refine you and changes that you need to accept!

Excellent book for Moms with young children

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) International has selected this book to be the suggested study book for its chapters for the 2009-10 program year. Our MOPS chapter feels that this book has been the best of any of the other books that MOPS recommended in the past 4 years. Our group has 40 Moms and we have not heard one complaint about the book. In fact, many Moms have read ahead or have completely finished the book and we just received our copies about a month ago. That is quite an accomplishment for Moms who have children who are 5 and under.
What makes this book special is that is it simple to read, yet is really relevant for all Moms who have young children.
Any church or Christian group (doesn't have to be a MOPS group), could use this book to begin a Young Mom's Bible study or support group. It really gives a lot of discussion points and things to think about to strengthen your relationship with your family and God, while still taking care of yourself.

Great for new moms or mothers of small children

This book is ideal for new mommies or mothers of small children. It's short and fairly quick to read (important when you're still at the changing diapers stage!) and offers lots of helpful reminders and advice.
There are chapters on remembering to take care of you, giving time to your marriage, making time for friends, keeping up with the world, and learning more about God. I especially liked the chapters on taking care of yourself and your marriage. I've reread the marriage chapter several times because there are so many pearls of wisdom and down to earth ideas in it. Also of particular interest is the section on Internet friends.
Buy this for yourself; your mental health, your husband, your friends - and ultimately, your children - will thank you for it! Or, buy this for the moms you know. It's sure to give them something to chew on that, if implemented, will change their life for the positive.
