Fantastically honest and unadulterated telling of one woman's search for love and acceptance. It's not as easy as it sounds, especially if you don't fit into the mold of what is socially acceptable. This story is funny, touching and simply lovely.

I don't generally read memoirs, but a book club selected it so . . . It's well written and timely on the marriage issue and what that feels like for lesbians! Hopefully, my straight friends will have a better feel for this issue after reading this book.

This is a brilliantly and beautifully written story of a woman's journey to marry her wife, deal with her family's resistance and denial, as well as navigate the aftershocks of numerous family tragedies. In addition to all this, Dicinoski expertly weaves historical anecdotes of historical, lesbian life-partners into her literary tapestry.
