Top of the re-read shelf!

Fabulous romantic suspense novel. This novel has everything I love in romance, oodles of chemistry between the MC's, sizzling sex scenes, great plot, humour and it's even a full length novel. I was concerned at first because this author writes predominantly m/f romance and often these authors - when they dabble in m/m - write one male character who acts like a heroine with a male name. But this author writes m/m relationships with confidence and panache and I was left in no doubt that this was a story about two complex, courageous and gorgeous MEN!
The author uses all the tropes of romance but within them doesn't always choose the obvious path for her characters. Zak is the son of a wealthy Russian businessman. He is a famous violinist in his own right. But his life begins to unravel into drugs and alcohol after the death of his mother. His father employs a bodyguard but unbeknownst to both of them the bodyguard, Logan, is actually an MI6 agent who is investigating Zak's father's connections to a Russian mobster. Logan has a sad backstory as well which plays out well alongside the spy/thriller plot.
The snappy dialogue between Logan and Zak, initially antagonistic, then bickering, then flirting, then intense, is excellent. Zak has a devil-may-care attitude and is full of clever comebacks which both annoys and attracts the buttoned-up, dont-believe-in-love Logan. Many times in the book Logan was fighting back laughter at one of Zak's quick lines and I was laughing right along with him.
I loved this book and highly recommend it to m/m fans. It will be going straight to the top of the reread shelf.

A perfect blend of action, mystery and romance

Absolutely brilliant and straight onto the favourites shelf!
From the very first chapter, this story had me hooked. The writing style was fabulous, the characters gorgeous and the plot intriguing. I love a story that is fast paced and full of humour but contains characters that really touch your heart.
Zak is the son of a Russian business man and was a pop star back home in Russia. Although a talented and clever man, he thinks very little of himself and is hiding a terrible guilt. He hides behind arrogance and a smart-mouth, using drugs and alcohol to escape his problems. He uses wisecracks and sex to deflect the situation and hide his true feelings.
Logan has immersed himself into his life as an agent, escaping his troubled upbringing. He is working undercover with the Russian Mafioso when his cover is blown with severe implications. His latest job is to act as Zak's bodyguard so as to get close enough to bring down the Russians.
The story is fast-paced and full of action. There are attempts on Zak's life and it is unclear exactly who the bad guys are and why they are after Zak.
"Why would someone want to kill you?" Logan asked.
He shrugged. "I piss most people off sooner or later. Usually sooner."
"To the point they'd shoot you down in a London street?"
"I can be very annoying."
The story follows the two men as they flee London, trying to stay under the radar and work out the good guys from the bad. Logan tries to deny and fight the attraction he feels towards Zak but the more time they spend together, the harder it it.
The time together gives Zak and Logan time to get to know each other. Zak starts to feel something deeper than a sexual attraction and Logan tries to keep his personal and professional life separate but slowly they start to break down the barriers and share their secrets.
A perfect blend of action, mystery and romance.

Bodyguards, British spies, Russian mafia and Rock Star--with plenty of Suspense, Action and Adventure... and hot sex!

I enjoyed this read. Lots of mystery and suspense, but it doesn't get in the way of the relationship, which is contentious and a slow build, but nice and hot.
Of course, Logan is the tough body-guard and Zak is the unwilling guard-ee. Zak's a member of a Russian rock band, but his bad boy, self-destructive drinking and drug-taking is more a result of the death of his mother and thankfully the rock star stuff is just fun background information.
Logan has issues within issues and he turns out to have even deeper secrets. Naturally, they are attracted to each other, but Logan knows he shouldn't if he wants to keep his charge alive and not get anyone else killed, including himself--and he has plenty more reasons. Zak also has many reasons of his own. But physical attraction speaks strongly, and being together (on and off) definitely adds to their desires. They don't just fall in bed and go crazy when in imminent danger of their lives, though. It's actually a great slow burn with some great sex scenes scattered throughout. This makes SO much more sense in their situations and with their characters and their pasts.
The suspense-plot is a good one. Involved enough to be interesting and to carry the relationship along, without overwhelming it. It's definitely more complex than people just gunning for Zak... or his father, who might be in the Russian mafia, or for Logan, due to his past jobs. The nice slow revelations about Zak and Logan's pasts in nice to see, as it bears on who they are and why they act the way they do, and it shows how their relationship is deepening. The secondary characters and plot-lines are very welcome, too. They are important to the overall plot and character development, as well as to their relationship. It's all well-written, nicely developed and integrated, and helps this tale transcend the typical 'bodyguard' tropes, even while staying very close to it.
I would love a sequel to this book. The characters, background and story are so worth reading more about!
