James Montgomery Boice (1938-2000) was senior pastor of Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was also president and cofounder of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, the parent organization of The Bible Study Hour, on which Boice was a speaker for more than thirty years. His many commentaries include The Minor Prophets, Psalms, The Gospel of Matthew, The Gospel of John, Acts, Romans, Ephesians, Daniel, and The Sermon on the Mount.

About the Author
James Montgomery Boice (1938-2000) was president of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals. He was also the senior pastor of the world-renowned Tenth Presbyterian Church and the author of nearly forty books.

Great Read and Help with Joshua

I have several exegetical commentaries on Joshua that go into greater detail. However, I wanted something different, that would take the text and almost preach it to the reader. James Montgomery Boice's work is excellent in this way. At times I wonder, "Why don't I just open this book up and read it from the pulpit?"

This is a very helpful commentary on the Biblical book of Joshua, suggesting ideas that may not have occurred to the casual reader of Joshua. This book should prove helpful in any Bible study setting. It will be particularly helpful for in-depth Bbile study. It is a natural companion to the 3 volume commentary on Genesis by the same author.

Great book

This is an excellent commentary on Joshua. I use it more than any other commentary. Solid biblical exegesis. I was very frustrated to discover too late that there is a limit to the amount you can copy and paste. Amazon should be upfront with this when we buy the book.
