The quality that add 'spice and interest' to a story is the quality of 'imagination'... as one begins the journey into the plot of a story it doesn't take long before the reader begins to senses whether or not this trip is beginning to be an exciting adventure, taking you to new places and bringing you face to face with new ideas and concepts never entertained before... or... it starts to feel like your walking on your tread-mill when you 'just know' you must have been on it for 15min by now... but only 2min have elapsed... sigh.
Gary, thankfully, has never run short of imagination in the books he has brought to us... and Genesis Logs is no exception. It's refreshing to discover that even with the plethora of “impending doom from a rock heading to Earth” films out there today that the plot that Gary has crafted takes us in a new and 'imaginative' direction.
“Aliens, technology, history, humor, drama, human spirit, and a nice sprinkling of divine provenance, mix well and keep chilled for ~200 years, remove and thaw as needed. A nice recipe indeed for a windy evening of reading." … well done Gary!.
I heartily recommend this book to those at enjoy navigating the twists and turns of a plot that takes you to new destinations. You will not be disappointed in your journey... but be forewarned... the sequel launches you into even more adventures.

So-so scifi pulp

This is one of those scifi novels that goes on and on with techno-fiction descriptions about the fictional science behind some of the story. There is way too much of that babble. It does not add to the story and at times detracts from it. One has to skim for pages and pages before getting back to the story. The book needs the strong hand of an editor.
The story is interesting enough to keep reading hence my two star rating rather than just one. I reserve the one star ratings for novels that I just can not bring myself to finish.
Unfortunately the story as it winds down it devolves into some sort of god / religious junk as though the author had not been able to figure out a way to end the novel and was just tired of writing it.
I certainly would not read a sequel, I probably would not read anything else by this author and I do not recommend this book.

I thoroughly enjoy this!!!

I have followed Gary Babb for a while now and find that each of his novels are better than the last. This particular story has gotten my attention because of the possibilities that it creates. How many times have we heard this scenario? Lots! But only Gary Babb actually brings it home to us and makes us think differently about what we hear on the media. I just watched the three night mini series about space travel sent out to keep mankind alive. Yeah it was ok but Gary's book was much more life like. I didnt need a movie to picture this book in my mind.
Scientific details are needed to help create this picture in our heads to make this book come alive. I definately recommend it and hope Gary continues to write for us many more!!!
