About the Author
Airey Neave: Airey Neave served as an intelligence agent for MI9 in World War Two before later becoming Member of Parliament for Abingdon. The author of several highly acclaimed books on the Second World War, he died in 1979 in an IRA a car-bomb attack at the House of Commons.

Good but not great fast read.

Great story and history of the line. Great detail and amazing history. Unfortunately I didn't like the way it was written and I felt like the writer tried to romanticize it too much, adding embellishments that not only couldn't be proven but weren't necessary to add to the already amazing true story. Things like assuming what a person who died did or heard before they were killed when there was no one else there to know what they did, heard or felt. Quick read that was informative to someone who doesn't want a whole lot of detail.

I quite enjoy this book, certainly a very good read, if you're into resistance books. Recommend highly..hope you enjoy it as much as I DID

Girl Power in WW2

An inspiring and little known true story right from the front lines of WW2. Lately I've done some reading on strong willed women throughout history and the story of Andrée de Jongh is one of the best. Airey Neave's story-telling style is very succinct and matter-of-fact, without a lot of flowering verbiage or gushing romantic idealism. He tells the story of a young woman, a child really, who smuggled downed Allied soldiers across country and over mountains to save them from the Nazis. This is one book I'll be keeping on my shelf and sharing with others, especially my young nieces.
