Excellent Read. 4 1/2 stars. But half of it is mostly a repeat of book one, so deducted 1/2 star.

Actually I give it 4 1/2 stars. I realiy enjoyed this book. I love the characters, the location and the story line. It is a good, clean story about real people. People who are good, but real...they have faults. In this book, each one comes face to face with those faults, but surrounded by those who love them. Most of all, it is a story of love. Love of husbands and wives, parents and children, and sisters... and forgiveness.
The reason I did not give it 5 stars was because I read book one in the series. This may be better as a stand alone book. The first half of the book is basically a repeat, but condensed version of book one in the series. However, the story of Heather and her drinking was not quite the same as in book one. At least not as I remember it. I felt all these flashbacks were unnecessary for the 3rd book. I kept saying to myself...I know all this already! Tell me something new! The second half of the book is what made it a really good story. So, if you are hesitant to read this book because you did not read book one, don't worry. You will be caught up on all the characters in the first half of the book.
Would like to read more from this author and I wish she had not ended the Cedar Key series. There are more stories with the remaining family members.

It was sad to say good-bye to the characters in this series

It was sad to say good-bye to the characters in this series...they seemed like friends. Eva Marie Everson did an amazing job of bringing this to a bitter sweet conclusion. It was hard putting this down. What an excellent job of bringing the (dare I say) Christian influence to a story that was compelling, interesting, and even thought provoking. Mrs. Everson is an excellent author and amazing story teller.

I liked all three of the Cedar Key books except for "she squared her shoulders" and "she ran her teeth over her lip". Really bugged me. Rest was interesting and kept me reading to see how all the family members turned out.
