Not a commentary for the average reader.

I grew up on a dairy farm where butchering cattle and hogs was a yearly necessity to provide meat for our large family. I don’t recall the men ever allowing any meat to be burned and they were very careful in cleaning up every drop of blood. That said, it seems that making the sacrifices that were demanded by the Lord would create a rather unpleasant atmosphere. While a roast in the oven can excite the taste buds of those who enjoy beef, burned meat does not. The idea of blood routinely splashed according to the requirements paints a repulsive picture in my mind.
I chose this commentary from our church library hoping it would make mention of the senses during the times of sacrifice. I was disappointed in not finding any reference to the topic.
Another problem, though not the fault of the author, is this: Pages 188-199 are out of order. Chapter 2 ends on page 187. Chapter 5 begins on page 188, etc.
It limits understanding and discourages further reading when a commentator uses words that are not generally known by the reading public. A brief glossary would have made this commentary more inviting. Having read the book from cover to cover, I conclude that it was written more for academia rather than for us average folks in the pew who are seeking answers to questions that rise from our daily Bible reading.
