After this book went to press we found an error on Page 10 under Time Under Tension.The 1st paragraph and the bullet points are backwards.That sections should read as follows:Time Under Tension, or TUT: The pace or speed which each portion of an exercise should be performed in seconds. The first number is the "eccentric" phase of the exercise, typically the lowering phase. In a squat or pushup which starts from the top, it is the first part of the movement. In a deadlift, curl or pullup it is the second part of the movement.
 
Using the Deadlift as an example, with the bar on the floor and a TUT of 312, you'd pull the bar up for 2 seconds, hold the top for 1 and lower it for a 3 count.
 
For a Pullup with TUT of 311, you'd pull yourself up fast (1), hold for 1 then lower slowly (3)
 
In a squat using 301 you'd decend to the bottom of the squat taking 3 seconds to get there, then immediately (0) and explosively return to standing.

Another Great Book

I have both of Mr. Randolph's previous book. This book follows the same easy to read and use format. The workouts and supporting information are presented in such a way as to be complete and informative, without being overly technical or complex. The "Action Movie" approach is fun and motivational. This book makes an excellent companion for the previous two, yet stands fine on it's own.

Very Impressed!

I just picked up "Action Movie Hero Workouts" written by Dave Randolph and I'm really impressed with everything that is packed into this book. I have read Randolph's book "The Ultimate Kettlebell workout" and know that he is a certified Kettlebell instructor under Pavel Tsatsouline as well as an avid martial artist who has been training for over 20 years so his credentials cannot be questioned.

The book begins with an excellent piece on eating healthy providing key nutritional advice then he dives right into the workouts. The workouts are based on the specific regimens that 10 actors followed in order to play roles of superhero's. The nice thing about this premise is you can follow a workout plan to get lean and look like your ready for fight club or you can bulk up and follow the plan that Bale used to prepare for his role in "The Dark Knight". The workouts are very detailed and are accompanied by very clear descriptions with pictures of the movements in the "exercise" section of the book. Each workout plan is very well rounded and filled with awesome supersets that incorporate bodyweight movements, kettlebell exercises and traditional lifting technique.

If you're looking to change up your exercise routine or start a new one this book will provide you with the tools to do it!

Good Information Not Just a Gimmick

Although this book looks like a gimmick, it has really good information in it. It has a great section on diet that I found very helpful. They have pieced together the workouts that actors who got into "superhero" shape have used. The back third of the book is a reference on how to do all the exercises that are listed in the various works. This is great because a lot of exercises can go by different names, and there are a bunch I haven't heard of.

I actually checked this out of the library and liked it so much that I bought it. The author knows his stuff.
